Psychosocial Workshop for Children in Gaza

A place where Gaza’s little ones can simply be kids again

A creative wellbeing program where children in Gaza draw, paint, write and tell stories in a space guided by experienced local psychosocial facilitators.

Children in Gaza have lived through more than any child should. They’ve learned the sound of drones, the walk to the water truck, and the layout of a displacement tent. The fear and loss they’ve experienced do not simply fade, and many are carrying it with them every day. This workshop is our way of helping them begin to heal and giving them back something the war took from them… the chance to be kids again.

What’s Happening?

In a quiet learning space in Khan Younis, a room is filled with children, paper is handed out, and pencils are passed from one small hand to the next. For a few hours, they get the chance to be kids again.

They’ll have the opportunity to enjoy:

  • Poetry and creative writing
  • Drawing and painting
  • Storytelling
  • Group games and calming breathing exercise
  • A closing exhibition celebrating every child’s work.

Nobody is asked to talk about what they’ve been through. They’re simply given a safe space, gentle guidance, and permission to imagine.

A Day at the Workshop

  • Welcome: Children arrive, get their name cards, and join their groups.
  • Settle in: Games and breathing exercise help everyone feels safe and at ease.
  • Create: One group writes poems about their hope and future. Others draw and paint their ideas and dreams.
  • Share a meal: Refreshments, water, and a meal are provided.
  • Celebrate: A small exhibition of their work, poems read aloud, and a certificate for every child.

Wellbeing matters as much as Survival

A child who feels seen, who has made something they’re proud of and heard their name read out at a small exhibition with their friends, carries that feeling with them. It doesn’t fix everything, but it reminds them that their ideas and voices still belong to them.

Your Donation

Your donation gives a child everything they need for a day of creation. It covers the paper, paints, and pencils, the trained psychosocial facilitators who guide each group, and a safe space where children can relax and feel at ease. It also provides refreshments and a shared meal.

You can support one child, help a whole group, or give whatever you’re able to towards the next workshop.
