The scale of destruction in Gaza has changed almost every part of daily life.
Around 1.9 million of Gaza’s 2.1 million people remain displaced, many after being forced to move multiple times. Families continue to live in tents, overcrowded displacement sites and damaged buildings, while ongoing military activity continues to cause casualties and further displacement.
Access to the basics remains precarious.
Around 67% of the population is projected to face Crisis levels of food insecurity or worse between July and December 2026. At the same time, 90% of people are experiencing moderate-to-high water insecurity, and around three quarters of the population relies on water trucking as their main source of drinking water.
These conditions are not simply the aftermath of a past emergency. Ongoing military operations, damage to civilian infrastructure and restrictions affecting humanitarian access continue to shape what families can eat, where they can live and whether they can reach essential services.
