With water infrastructure damaged and families repeatedly displaced, many people now depend on water deliveries to meet some of their most basic needs.
Parents are rationing water between drinking, cooking, washing, cleaning and caring for their children. Families queue with whatever containers they can carry, knowing the water they collect has to stretch across the household. No family should have to face scorching temperatures without enough clean water to drink.
And tomorrow, they may have to find it all over again.
This is not about convenience. Water is survival.
When a water truck arrives, families come with bottles, buckets and jerrycans to collect what they can.
That water goes home with them.
It becomes the water a child drinks. The water used to prepare a meal. The water a mother uses to wash her baby. The water used to clean a wound, wash clothes or keep a crowded shelter clean.
One delivery cannot solve Gaza’s water crisis. But for the families waiting for it, that delivery matters.
