Janaa is one of the youngest recipients of our wheelchair project in Gaza. She is a young girl living with complex health needs that affect her mobility, speech and vision in Gaza. When Janaa received her new wheelchair, it gave her more comfort, more freedom to move and to simply just be a kid again.
Her story reminded us that mobility is about more than getting from one place to another, it is about dignity and independence.
While distributing wheelchairs across Gaza, our team also began collecting damaged chairs. With new equipment difficult to bring in because of ongoing aid blockages, we asked a simple question:
How can we make better use of what is already here?
Nearly 50 damaged wheelchairs have now been collected to be repaired and restored by local technicians before being redistributed to people still waiting for mobility support.
And that idea has now grown into something we are very excited to introduce.
Introducing Janaa’s Workshop
Named in honour of the little girl who inspired it, Janaa’s Workshop will focus on repairing and restoring damaged wheelchairs inside Gaza, while working towards a local repair service that people with disabilities can continue to rely on.
Welcome to Janaa’s Workshop! Help support the repair of a wheelchair today.
