For people with mobility disabilities in Gaza, the destruction of health and rehabilitation services has made an already difficult situation even harder. Displacement, damaged infrastructure and the loss of suitable mobility equipment can leave people unable to move safely or independently.
With the support of our donors, 182 new wheelchairs are being provided to children, adults and older people with mobility disabilities across Gaza, including North Gaza and Gaza City.
The project also aims to make existing equipment go further. Damaged wheelchairs collected from recipients will be assessed and, where possible, repaired by local rehabilitation workshops so they can be provided to others who need them.
