THE WORLD’S WORST HUMANITARIAN CRISIS
Let’s not forget Yemen, the largest Humanitarian Crisis in the World!
The ongoing unrest continues to ravage the country and its people, pushing millions more towards the brink of starvation.
Almost 70% of the Yemeni population are in desperate need of humanitarian assistance, especially women and children. In some areas, inadequate food consumption is now over 45% and acute malnutrition among children under the age of 5 reached 17.6% in 2021.
Prophet Muhammad SAW said: “Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity.” (Al-Tirmidhi)
The race to save lives in Yemen is on, so we’ve amped up our response efforts in Yemen specifically targeting malnutrition among children under the age of 5 and pregnant and lactating women as well as promotion of proper maternal and child health practices.
Our on the ground team is establishing Mobile Medical Teams to visit poor communities and camps for internally displaced persons from the Yemeni Civil War and to provide services addressing nutrition as well as to integrate primary health care and maternal and child health services for patients.
Cash payments will also be made to the neediest families allowing them the freedom and respect to determine their own needs and allowing us to deliver aid in a more effective and dignified manner.
