Responding to Crisis, Restoring Hope

Gaza has become the hungriest place on earth.

The humanitarian crisis has reached catastrophic levels. Following the collapse of the ceasefire, airstrikes have intensified, displacing families and destroying vital infrastructure. The blockade has led to extreme shortages of food, water, and medical supplies. Community kitchens are shutting down. Hospitals are overwhelmed. Families are boiling leaves to survive, and children are sleeping hungry.

At least 19 people are dying from malnutrition every single day. Infant deaths are rising weekly, and tens of thousands of children now require urgent treatment.

Aid is being weaponised. Even flour bags are suspected to be laced with drugs. Parents risk sniper fire just to collect food. In every corner of Gaza, people are not just surviving, they are being crushed by grief, hunger, and erasure.

Our Ongoing Response

Penny Appeal Australia is not responding to Gaza in an ad-hoc or reactive way. We are present — on the ground, coordinated, and committed to addressing the many forms of human suffering unfolding in real time.

Our response is rapid, strategic, and scalable. With the support of our co-funding affiliates and local partners, we are delivering life-saving aid to the most vulnerable communities in North and Central Gaza, and will adapt our operations as the situation evolves.

What We’re Doing

Over the next two months, inshaAllah, we will be delivering:

  • Clean Water

    Distribution of 100,000 litres of purified water via tankers to communities with no access to safe drinking water.

  • Hot Meals (Tikiah Pots)

    Daily preparation and distribution of hearty, nutritious meals, including rice, macaroni, lentils, and beans, each pot serving 500+ people, across 50 days.

  • Emergency Food Packs

    Delivery of EMR food packs for families, each containing essentials like feta cheese, mortadella, sugar, rice, milk powder, tahini, lentils, oil, thyme, and tuna.

  • Fresh Bread

    Distribution of 1,600 kg of fresh bread, providing a vital staple to families in need.

  • Infant Nutrition

    Provision of baby formula tins to support infants at risk of malnutrition.
